DFG funds new research projects at IHP
DFG recently approved the funding of new research projects in IHP Materials Research Department.
The first project under the guidance of Dr. Thomas Schroeder concentrates on fundamental aspects of the solid state physics of semiconductor – insulator – semiconductor (S-I-S) heterostructures, concerning structural (crystallinity, defect densities etc.) as well as electrical properties (leakage currents, charge carrier mobilities etc.). The controlled preparation of such heterostructures is of interest for future generations of integrated circuits on Si with higher performance and / or higher functionality.

Secondly, DFG awarded a research fellowship to Dr. Rakesh Sohal who will be hosted by IHP Materials Research Department. Dr. Rakesh Sohal received his Master of Technology in Materials Science from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur in India and obtained his PhD degree in 2006 from the BTU Cottbus in the group of Prof. Schmeisser. Dr. Rakesh Sohal will work in close collaboration with IHP technology department on dielectric systems exhibiting resistive switching effects for non-volatile memory applications.
