PhD graduations in IHP Materials Research Department
Two PhD students from IHP Materials Research Department, Alessandro Giussani and Mindaugas Lukosius, successfully defended their Phd thesis during the last weeks.
Alessandro Giussani received his Master of Science in Physics from the University of Milano, worked several years at ST Microelectronics and joined IHP in 2006. He prepared his thesis in the field of engineered wafer systems under the guidance of Dr. Thomas Schroeder and Dr. Peter Zaumseil at IHP, focusing in particular on the integration of Germanium thin films on Silicon via single crystalline oxide heterostructures. The work was conducted in close collaboration with the research group of Prof. Joachim Wollschlaeger (Faculty of Physics) from University of Osnabrueck where Alessandro Giussani successfully graduated with “magna cum laude” on 19th February 2010.
Mindaugas Lukosius received his Master of Science in Chemistry from the University of Vilnius and joined IHP Materials Research department in 2006. He worked under the guidance of Dr. Christian Wenger on the back end of line integration of high-k dielectrics in future high performing metal-insulator-metal (MIM) structures, focusing in particular on chemical vapour deposition techniques. He carried out his thesis in collaboration with Prof. Katharina Al-Shamery (Faculty of Chemistry) at the University of Oldenburg and graduated on 12th March 2010 with the mark “summa cum laude”.
