Next Generation WLAN/WPAN Development

The IHP consists of approximately 230 research staff, primarily in the area of wireless communications, including SiGe-based technologies, diagnostics, and materials research. We are working in a multidisciplinary environment, spanning materials, process technology, circuits, and systems. The IHP is housed in a state-of-the-art building 55 minutes from Berlin, with ultra-modern facilities. Our innovations are in worldwide demand.

 

We are seeking suitable candidates with a PhD or MSc in Communications, Computer Science or Electronics Engineering for projects on the development and design of ultra-high data rate next generation WLAN and WPAN.

 

The successful candidates will be highly motivated with a strong research record and an excellent background in one of the following two fields:

 

Wireless communication systems

• Modulation techniques (in particular OFDM)

• Digital signal processing algorithms and architectures (baseband processing)

• Knowledge of digital circuit design using VHDL

• Experience in implementing DSP-algorithms in hard- and software would be an
   advantage.

 

Network technology and communication protocols (MAC and DLC layer)

• Knowledge of Wireless MAC Protocols such as IEEE802.11 and 802.15.3

• Quality of service mechanism (QoS)

• Experience using the Specification and Description Language (SDL) for protocol modelling
   and implementation would be an advantage.
