Energy efficient implementations

An important strategy to reach resilience is redundancy. In the application fields considered here such as e-health, automation networks, etc., embedded systems are generally used. These have limited resources so that efficient implementations are essential to achieve a well working and above all resilient solution. We have years of experience implementing energy-efficient protocols for wireless sensor networks and even of middleware approaches. Here, the focus is on reaching efficiency primarily with an appropriate design instead of by implementation, by which the realization of selected functions is also taken into account in the form of hardware accelerators. One of the conceptional approaches is to immediately evaluate the data measured by sensors. To achieve this, suitable signal processing and AI methods are investigated and also, if need be, supported by hardware accelerators developed at IHP.
