Point of Care Systems and eHealth

Advances in the field of sensor technology and wireless sensor networks increasingly allow the realization of miniaturized systems for diagnostics and the monitoring of patient conditions. Here, IHP combines its experience in the stated fields to realize point-of-care (PoC) or e-health systems. For example, by combining methods of artificial intelligence and a permittivity sensor developed and manufactured by IHP, a portable system was created which allows testing for COPD from saliva samples on site. Apart from the development and use of own sensors, other systems, e.g. for monitoring and analyzing the movement of Parkinson patients with COTS sensors and artificial intelligence or signal processing methods, are investigated and evaluated together with clinical partners.
