Sensors for bio and medical applications

With the ongoing miniaturization in semiconductor technologies and advances in biotechnology and microtechnology, as well as through digitalization in medicine, biosensors are also being used in medical diagnostics. Methodologically, the focus is on two core issues of the technology development: the application of CMOS semiconductor technologies, which allows low-cost fabrication of high-performance chips, for the combined development of electronic and photonic structures, and the use of advanced single-cell manipulation systems for the immobilization of biomolecules and medically relevant nano-objects. Solving these two key questions will provide new impetus for the development of products based on miniaturized and integrated biosensors.
