Abstract: In this paper a novel modular 60 GHz - UWB channel sounder architecture is presented with multiple-inputmultiple- output (MIMO) capability in real-time. This concept allows us to study the channel dynamics due to the shadowing by human bodies (SHB). Additionally, for the first time it is possible to characterise auto-correlation and cross-correlation of SHB for macro-diversity and handover implementations. Besides, this sounder solution allows channel parameters extraction for realistic system simulations at PHY and MAC levels. This means that performance analysis during longtime full HD video transmissions including statistics due to human events can be performed. Moreover, this sounder architecture covers most of the assigned 60 GHz spectrum, so facilitates analysing data (in post-processing) for four different sub-bands as established at the IEEE 802.15.3c PHY channelization, i.e., from 59.40 to 61.56 GHz, from 61.56 to 63.72 GHz and from 63.72 to 65.88 GHz.
