IHP adds Mentor Verification Solutions to its Process Design Kits for RF Si-Ge BiCMOS Technologies

IHP has announced it has added Mentor Graphics Calibre® support to its RF SiGe BiCMOS technologies (SG13) process design kits (PDKs).

IHP – Innovations for High Performance Microelectronics in Frankfurt (Oder) has announced it has added to its RF SiGe BiCMOS technologies (SG13) process design kits (PDKs support for the Calibre® platform from Mentor, a Siemens business.). The PDKs now support the Mentor® Calibre nmDRC™ and Calibre nmLVS™ verification solutions, with support for Calibre xRC™ parasitic extraction planned for the third quarter of 2017.


In addition to using Calibre in a batch sign-off mode, layout designers targeting IHP’s SiGe BiCMOS processes can now interactively access Calibre from any of their custom design cockpits via the Calibre Interactive™ graphical user interface, and use the Calibre RVE™ results viewing environment for debugging the error results. This capability allows layout engineers to achieve verification closure faster, because they are now able to quickly access Calibre solutions from any stage in the design flow.


“By supporting Mentor verification tools in our PDKs for our SG13 technologies, we are addressing the increased demand of this technology for high performance analog designs, such as for wireline communication circuits and systems that are part of a rapidly evolving network infrastructure,” said Dr. René Scholz, Team Leader for PDK Development and MPW Service at IHP. The first PDKs released with Calibre verification tools are for the industry-leading performance SiGe BiCMOS processes of SG13S with 330GHz fmax and SG13G2 with 500GHz fmax.


“Mentor is pleased that IHP has added Calibre support to their SiGE BiCMOS process so that our mutual customers can leverage their Calibre licenses for IHP‘s SiGe BiCMOS processes,” said Michael Buehler-Garcia, senior director of marketing in Mentor’s Calibre Design Solutions Group. “Moreover, since the IHP flows include the Calibre interface offerings, this support allows IHP customers to use whichever design cockpit they prefer, or even a mix of cockpits, and still reap the full benefits of using Calibre solutions.”
