Selin Tolunay Wipf succeeds at NordPac conference in Sweden

The Best Student Paper Award of the Nordic Conference on Microelectronics Packaging, NordPac, was given this year to Selin Tolunay Wipf from IHP Innovations for High Performance Microelectronics in Frankfurt (Oder). With her paper titled "Effect of wafer-level silicon cap packaging on BiCMOS embedded RF-MEMS switch performance" she could convince the jury. “Packaging is a must for the microelectromechanical structures (MEMS) to protect them from the surrounding environment”, explains the PhD student. For instance in space, where the MEMS can be used in satellite communication, they are commited to harsh environmental conditions such as temperature or radiation levels, it is absolutely essential to have them packaged.

The building and the infrastructure of the IHP were funded by the European Regional Development Fund of the European Union, funds of the Federal Government and also funds of the Federal State of Brandenburg.
