Summer School Microelectronics

11th International Summer School on RF MEMS and RF Microsystems

June 22 - 26, 2015

Summer School 2015 was organized by IHP in cooperation with European Microwave Association (EuMA®). The topic of RF MEMS and RF Microsystems was extended by “Millimeter-wave circuit design and characterization”.

Participants of the 11th International Summer School on RF MEMS and RF Microsystems

We were pleased to welcome 18 participants from a number of different countries like Sweden, Turkey, France, United Kingdom, Egypt, Poland and Germany.

"It was a chance to make a lot of new friends with similar fields of interest and to study in a pleasant atmosphere."
Michal Sikora (Master Student, Poland, Wroclaw University of Technology)

The program and lectures of the Summer School in 2015 were wide-ranging. From the basics and theory of mm-wave measurements to hands-on tutorials e.g. the measurement of mm-wave RF MEMS switches and circuits.

"Small group, great atmosphere, interesting lectures."

Beata Trzpil (Master Student, Poland, AGH University of Science and Technology)

Moreover the program included lab tours, a cleanroom tour and gave a lot of possibilities to talk to the numerous lecturers and scientists of IHP.

"It provides not only a basic knowledge, but allows as well to understand all the related issues that are not easy to foreseen in the design/modeling of RF-MEMS."
Victor Arturo Silva Cortes (PhD, Germany, University of Erlangen Nuremberg)

Our social program included a "get to know each other" session, a tasty social dinner in the evening, a city rally through Frankfurt (Oder), which had as meeting point the 89m high Oderturm. There we had -thanks to the good weather- a great view on Frankfurt (Oder). Moreover did we listen to artists and also played ourself during the “Open Stage”.

"It is the most efficient way to learn a lot and to make useful contacts."
Pedro Rynkiewicz (PhD, France, La Place Enseeiht)

The building and the infrastructure of the IHP were funded by the European Regional Development Fund of the European Union, funds of the Federal Government and also funds of the Federal State of Brandenburg.
