University of Potsdam

Joint Lab Education Mission

The IHP has a long tradition and strong experiences in designing and manufacturing wireless and embedded systems. These experiences are passed to the students from experienced staff members and of the IHP by offering courses in the field of computer engineering. By this know-how-transfer the student will receive the knowledge required to work as junior scientists in future projects hosted in the IHP and the University of Potsdam, or in local companies working in the same field. Annually provided courses include:

  • Embedded System Design
  • Hardware-/Software-Codesign
  • Processor Architecture
  • Introduction to Hardware and System Description Languages
  • Chip Design

Courses include lectures and practices in the hardware laboratory. Appropriate tools and hardware for microprocessor programming and for developing and testing embedded designs are provided by the IHP.

The following figure shows an overview of the offered courses:

The possible recommended assignment in bachelor (ICS) and master studies (COS) are summarized in the following figures:

More information is provided in the study concept document  for computer engineering (only in German language).

The building and the infrastructure of the IHP were funded by the European Regional Development Fund of the European Union, funds of the Federal Government and also funds of the Federal State of Brandenburg.
