part 2.2.5 of Chapter 2 - Channel Measurements, COST2100 Book 'Pervasive Mobile & Ambient Wireless Communications', 2010. To be published. http://www.cost2100.org/

Abstract: Investigations about the channel characteristics and how they could change for diferent outdoor/indoor scenarios (note that wavelengths are between 1 and 5 mm at the Extra High Frequency - EHF - bands), antenna patters and polarizations are important issues for designing multi Giga-bit/s access. Proposing possible enhancement techniques, e.g, beamforming, macro-diversity, seamless handover, etc., against some channel impairments at these frequencies will require new channel sounders, extensively measurement campaigns and analysis. Perhaps the main question around mm-Wave/sub-mm-Wave channels is how to perform a reliable modeling of these peculiar multi-path channels. So this book section intends two actions: answering the previous question based on measurements and lead the way for future research around the topic.
