On the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science on the 11th of February 2026, the Leibniz Institute for High Performance Microelectronics (IHP) is hosting a public afternoon event. The aim is to celebrate the day visibly and to shine a spotlight on women in science at IHP, their fields of work and their career paths.
The focus is on a programme of ideas on visibility and leadership, as well as an artistic contribution to the history and recognition of women in science. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity for discussion.
Programme
- 15:00–17:00: Public afternoon event
- Impulse: Mirtha Valenzuela Vera, CEO of IHP Solutions GmbH, holds a short presentation on the topic of "Women in Management".
- Brief introduction and video series: Anna Herfurth, Head of Human Resources, provides an overview of IHP and presents the video series "Women in Science", which highlights female scientists at IHP and their diverse career paths.
- Theatre monologue: Physicist and science communicator Gabriella Greison pre-sents "Einstein & Me", a theatre monologue about Mileva Marić and the question of how recognition, exclusion and structural barriers shape scientific biographies.
- Followed by: Joint exchange
"On this day, we want to highlight research and the people behind it, while also showing how diverse paths in science and leadership can be," says Anna Herfurth, Head of Human Resources at IHP. "The interest shown in recent years encourages us to raise the profile of women in science and to further expand the dialogue with the public."
