GIMMIK

The GIMMIK research project aims to enable the production and application of graphene in semiconductor manufacturing on an industrial scale. So far, industry and research have not succeeded in developing industrial processes for clearly defined and reproducible graphene layers and the resulting integrated electronic devices. In the GIMMIK project, with the participation of leading German companies, the production of graphene layers under industrial conditions is being evaluated and weak points in the processing are being eliminated. Based on this, the relationship between quality and integration in electronic components will be investigated in order to significantly improve the integration process. Finally, methodologies to ensure consistently high quality as a basis for manufacturability are developed. These methodologies represent a toolbox for a whole range of applications such as transistors, sensors and photonics with a market potential in the billions of dollars.
