    Master thesis project: 

    In-Memory computing targets high performance low power computing and is an emerging field of research. The goal of this project is to analyze and implement a vector-matrix multiplier using a technology node independent concept, evaluate its accuracy and speed limitations.

    The Research/Position:

    • Analyzing and evaluation of charge-redistribution bassed in-memory-computing concepts.
    • Implementation of a matrix-vector multiplier in IHP design environment.
    • Evaluation the accuracy and speed limitations of the chosen concept.
    • Potentially physical realization of a test chip.
    • After successful completion of the master thesis project, a PhD degree can be pursued and will be encouraged. 

    Your Qualifications: 

    • Bachelo's degree in the field of electrical engineering.
    • Good knowledge of analog and digital circuits.
    • Fundamental hands-on experience in the design and simulation of integrated circuits using CAD tools (Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre) would be desirable.
    • Very good English language skills.

    The position:

    As a member of the Fault Tolerant Computing research group within the department System Architectures you will contribute to research into designing and implementing FPGA ICs in IHP technology with the help of open source FPGA development tools. Your tasks will include the setup and testing of the OpenFPGA framework for rapid prototyping of customizable FPGA architectures. An international team of 12 scientists including very experienced senior researchers as well as several PhD students is looking forward to you.     Your qualifications:

    You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences or a comparable study area. You are already experienced with HDL design and FPGA programming and have a good understanding of the FPGA architecture. The lab is part of the System Architectures department and provides its services to the entire IHP. Therefore, your tasks include not only managing the equipment, but also advising colleagues from engineering and research on the technical capabilities of the integration lab.
