At the start of the new vocational training year today, three new trainees from the fields of IT and office management, as well as one participant in the EnterTechnik programme, which allows her to try out different technical professions, began their professional careers here at IHP – Leibniz Institute for High Performance Microelectronics.
At the start of their training, the new recruits gathered at the traditional Trainee Welcome Day at IHP. The day began with a relaxed round of introductions, during which the new trainees quickly struck up conversations. Organisational matters were then clarified before the institute management and head of human resources officially welcomed the group. During the subsequent round of introductions, the trainees had the opportunity to introduce themselves, get to know apprentices from higher years and talk to the trainers.
The traineeship coordinators then provided an overview of the institute's areas of focus and introduced key contacts, including representatives of young people and trainees. In the afternoon, a tour of the institute followed. The new trainees were able to gather further impressions in a playful way during the “Run through the IHP” before their first day ended with the distribution of employee ID cards and a feedback session.
The new trainees themselves are looking forward to the coming years at IHP with confidence. Marie Reschke from Neuzelle, a prospective office management assistant, is looking forward to her vocational training: “I think it will be an exciting training period, I have no doubt about that.” Nematullah Faizi, who has started training as an IT specialist for system integration, was particularly impressed by the friendly staff: “With so many people, I'll definitely need some time to remember all their names.” And Cedric Buchwald, a prospective IT specialist for application development, also drew a positive conclusion: “I really enjoyed the introductory event, it was fun. Only finding my way around the building will be difficult for me at first.”
“We are delighted to welcome the new trainees and the EnterTechnik participant to our company. Training is a key component for us in providing young people with a solid foundation for their start to their professional lives, while at the same time securing our future skilled workers,” says Nicolas Hübener, Administrative Director of IHP.
As not all of the available vocational training places for this year have been filled yet, there is still an opportunity for last-minute applicants to apply to IHP.
The next opportunity to learn more about the apprenticeships and career opportunities at IHP will be the Open Day on 13 September 2025. From 14:00 to 18:00, the institute will open its doors and invite visitors to take part in laboratory tours, hands-on activities and discussions with trainees, administrative and technical staff, and scientists.
