Start of vocational training at the Leibniz Institute for High Performance Microelectronics

Seven trainees have decided to train at the Leibniz Institute for High Performance Microelectronics (IHP) in 2021 - one of the world's leading research institutes in the field of silicon/germanium electronics based in Frankfurt (Oder). Two women and five men signed a training contract with the IHP on August 1st, 2021 and will henceforth be part of the Institute's 357 employees.

The vocational training in the field of IT with the specializations of application development and system integration were particularly popular among young people this year. Four of the seven trainees see their professional future in this educational direction. The apprenticeships for Microtechnologist, Mechatronic Technician and Management assistant for office management were also filled with qualified trainees.

At the beginning of the vocational training, the Welcome Day took place at the IHP again this year. This was opened by the scientific and technical director of the Institute, Prof. Gerhard Kahmen. During the event, the new trainees received interesting and important information about the IHP and their future training place. They had the opportunity to gain a personal insight into the institute, to get to know their new workplace and the people responsible for training at IHP.

"Over the next three or three and a half years, our trainees will be imparted extensive job-specific knowledge. They will be individually supervised by IHP instructors from day one and get to know the different areas of the research institute," says Elise Funke, Head of Human Resources at IHP. They will be able to gain an exciting insight into current research projects at the institute in an annual self-organized workshop called "Trainee meets Science".

During the practical training period at the IHP and within the framework of various project work, the trainees learn everything that is important in their future profession and create a very good basics for their future career.

The IHP's extraordinary commitment to its trainees has been recognized in many ways over the past years, most recently in 2020 by the East Brandenburg Chamber of Industry and Commerce with the award as an excellent training company.
