Dual study programme Bachelor of Engineering Physical Technologies / Energy Systems at TH Wildau and vocational training as microtechnologist (m/f/d) at IHP 

You'd like to study engineering? At the same time, you would you like to gain professional insights, experience in technical practice and get to know the work in microchip research from the ground up? Then this dual study programme is exactly the right thing for you! Within 5 years you will complete the vocational training at IHP as well as the bachelor studies at the Technische Hochschule Wildau - Technical University of Applied Science (TH Wildau).

Study

At TH Wildau you will acquire basic theoretical knowledge and deepen your knowledge in the natural sciences, especially in the field of physics. The program includes mathematical and scientific fundamentals, engineering fundamentals and the subject-specific specialization in physical technologies and energy systems. In addition, you will take interdisciplinary courses and work together with other students on projects and complete laboratory practicals. In this way, you develop skills in the planning, calculation, construction and handling of physical-technical devices for industry and research. At the end of your studies you will write your Bachelor´s thesis.

Vocational Training

During your vocational training at IHP, you will learn to operate and supervise a wide variety of state-of-the-art equipment. This includes semi-automated equipment for processing silicon wafers, on which microchips are manufactured under clean room conditions using special processes, as well as semi- and fully-automated equipment for packaging and interconnection technology with a focus on chip assembly and wire bonding. You will gain a very good knowledge of the manufacturing processes. At the end of your vocational training, you will be able to test, document and control a wide range of process conditions and know which measures you can take to safeguard the process sequences. You will also be familiar with electronic assemblies for a wide range of applications and specialist areas and be able to design and manufacture them yourself.

Requirements

What do you need to bring with you? Since you have to enroll at TH Wildau, you must meet the admission requirements of this technical university. First of all, you need to have the (subject-related) entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences, the general or the subject-related university entrance qualification, as well as other requirements depending on your educational background. Good school grades in natural sciences subjects are an advantage. Technical understanding, interest in chemical and physical processes, an analytical way of thinking, experimental skills and the ability to solve problems are helpful. Since some of the training takes place in shifts, your health must be sufficient for shift work. We expect good English and German skills. Foreign applicants must prove that they have passed the German Language Test for Universities (DSH) with an overall result of DSH-2 or better.

Remuneration

IHP pays you an attractive remuneration during the entire dual study program. It is based on the collective agreement for vocational trainees (TVA-L BBiG) and a guideline of the German Federal States for dual study programs and master's degree programs dated May 16, 2019 as amended by the state of Brandenburg.
