Optoelectronic devices

For optical data transmission and processing, it would be a major breakthrough if integrated light sources could be realized in silicon-based circuits. Therefore, the development of CMOS-compatible laser sources for photonic, THz and sensing applications is an important research topic. The challenge will be to enable room temperature laser properties by improving heteroepitaxial material quality. SiGe(Sn)- and InP-based heterostructures on silicon substrates will be the focus of development work.
